Stephen Schwarzman and Peter Peterson founded the private-equity management and financial advisory firm Blackstone Group in the mid-eighties. The Blackstone Group has since grown from strength to strength and nowadays is massive in M&A. After calling suburban Philadelphia home for much of his childhood, Stephen A. Schwarzman attended school in the Abington School District. After finishing high school he was accepted for an undergraduate degree at the widely esteemed Yale University in Connecticut. He set about taking a program of post graduate study at the highly esteemed Harvard Business school near Boston, MA. Once he had finished his time at college, Stephen commenced a career in investment banking. Steve was given the role of managing director at the age of thirty one.
Not only does Stephen give his time to a broad range of non-profit organizations, but in addition he has also volunteered as a part-time professor at Yale. Moreover, he serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the JFK Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. And, to return even more to society, Stephen just last spring presented to the New York Public Library a hundred million dollars to fund their construction plans. He is also one of the trustees of the library.
