Verizon recently launched new improvements for it’s Tweeter and Facebook widgets – a free interactive social TV applications available to FiOS TV. The new improvement allows users to mail Tweets. Social networks are in real time. They could also modify their Facebook profile using an onscreen keyboard.

. The Verizon is focusing on adding new functions to increase customer experience of watching TV. This latest feature will help subscribers connect with each other via Verizon TV service, right on their own TV screen.

The new features added by Verizon FiOS television in July were Facebook, Twitter, ESPN and Online video services and provide by a new store called “The Widget Bazaar”. This introduction is designed to represent new widgets and applications to the consumers of the FiOS TV. In addition to this, Verizon will also be opening “The Widget Bazaar” to third-party developers under revenue-sharing agreements.

Many cable providers are strongly promoting Triple-Play (phone, web and video) but FiOS continually develops new functionalities to better compete in the market. They are also expecting that they will have to compete not only with cable providers but as well as with other industry players like satellite TV.

Evident to their ability to compete is the continues growth of FiOS TV subscribers and FiOS high speed internet online subscribers. Verizon continues to expand its coverage and there has been a tremendous growth of during the last 2 quarters. The Verizon market position is said to progress as the market has amplified the penetration of the FiOS infrastructure and 4G wireless network upgrades are also likely to strengthen.

‘Social Bookmarking’ As An Aggressive and Acceptable Blog Marketing Tactic

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Social bookmarking websites are becoming more and more
popular. They allow you to save bookmarks online and
Tag/Categorize them with keywords instead of saving them
as bookmarks in the favorite’s list of your browser.
This is particularly useful when your browser based
bookmarks have become unwieldy. It’s also help since
you can access your bookmarks from any computer where
you have an internet connection.

I have compiled a list of Social Bookmarking websites from
a number of sources. You can find it here:
http://www.blogmarketingtactics.com/social-bookmarking/social-bookmarking-top-links.html

Once you have bookmarked them, you can view them, sort
them by category/keyword as well as see links from others
that have been categorized like yours.

You also establish RSS feeds for each category (tag) that you
’subscribe’ to. This alerts you to new links in your areas of
interest. Your bookmark collection/RSS Feed becomes
viewable to others who can also copy your bookmarks to their
own collection. So now you can aggressively promote your
RSS feed to the RSS Directories and Search engines,
syndicate them and make them available to a much wider
audience.

Social bookmarking sites also help you to meet other people
who are interested in the same topics you are and who may
also have knowledge of web resources that you don’t.

On Social Bookmarking sites, you first create an account.
Then you bookmark interesting and useful things in the area
of your interest or expertise. By doing so you create a
useful Feed. Once you’ve done that you intermittently,
(or aggressively), add useful and interesting items, (that
could use additional exposure), from your own content.
Make an honest effort to contribute USEFUL information
and links. This is all about sharing and exposure. Done
properly, you can be as aggressive as you want to be about
sharing information. You can share your blog(s), links to
your informational/resource sites etc. Think about the fact
that when you share links to other’s resources, you’re also
effectively promoting their content as well.

This is a way you can aggressively and ethically promote
your content and the content of others. I personally
have hundreds of gigabytes of my own information and
information of others, connected to my notebook. In the
final analysis, it’s doing me no good what-so-ever just
sitting there. But by organizing it, online, I can help
myself, (getting organized, getting my content exposed,
etc.) and help others at the same time.

If you spice up your feed with too much sales and
marketing related or self promotional stuff, people
can and will easily drop their subscription to your feed.
And instead of gaining good will and doing a service
to the internet community you could get labeled as a
spammer and suffer the consequences.

So while being aggressive is possible and acceptable,
being careful to consider the best interest of the
community is certainly warranted.

Balancing being ethical and providing a useful service
to others with promoting your own content enables you
to be as aggressive as you like. But remember, in the
final analysis, others will make the decision on whether
it’s ethical and useful or spam.

SEO Blog Builder: A Review

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

If you operate one or many websites or blogs, SEOBlogBuilder can easily become an invaluable part of your efforts to achieve higher traffic results. SEOBlogBuilder is an automated blogging software that automatically creates content for the blogs on your sites that are search engine optimized.

Since blogs and search engine optimized web content are considered among experts to be the most effective ways to achieve the highest possible search engine ranking, the faster and better you can add this type of content to your own website, the sooner you will dramatically raise the amount of traffic that your site receives.

This product leads its users to the simplest, fastest, and cheapest method for attaining inbound links. The reason behind the success of SEOBlogBuilder is the efficacy of using keywords within your blog content because it registers among search engines that the site is frequently being updated, and they will therefore send their indexing spiders to crawl it more frequently; indexing your content more often, using precisely the keywords you want and need.

The more your website is crawled by search engine spiders, the better your chances of achieving high ranking in searches from prospective visitors to your site. Furthermore, with more blog pages on your site, there will be more one-way links for the different pages of your site. One way links are a vital part of today’s strategies for attaining the best ranking on search engines.

Blogs are special among the different kinds of web content as have a pinging system built into them so that they automatically notify search engines and RSS services that the content of your site has been changed.

Of course, there are other automated blogging software out there, however, they are flawed in that they rapidly consume the resources of your server, shutting down your account. Furthermore, they are able to manage only one blog at a time. Additionally, the ability to search engine optimize the content within these automated blogs is quite limited.

These areas are where SEOBlogBuilder really stands out. It’s advantages include the following:

* Automated blog content creation (everything from content to inbound links)

* Back linking

* Posting to as many blogs as you want

* Build merchant data feed sites

* Add supplementary content to your posts to eliminate duplicate content filters

* Search engine optimized content, using proper keywording techniques

* Use of Wordpress and Blogger blogs

* And much, much more

The SEOBlogBuilder turnkey solution is well priced, with everything that you need for all of the features that you can possibly want, and it comes with a list of useful additional bonuses, free, that sweeten an already great deal.

Pay If You Want

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

One of the best things about the Internet is that it links creative people to their audience, anywhere in the world. People can post nearly anything they want online, and be as risqué as they like. The Internet removes the need for printing, distribution, and marketing, so a writer or musician can offer their work to the world at little or no cost. Unsigned bands can distribute their songs through so many web sites there is now a website called simply, ‘a semi-comprehensive list of MP3 hosting & music streaming sites that accept original music by underground artists, as well as mainstream acts.’ (http://www.therecordindustry.com/record-mp3sitelisting.htm)

In addition to hundreds of fiction and fan fiction sites offering free text fiction, there are also some brilliant online comics. One I remain devoted to is ‘Freefall’ (http://freefall.purrsia.com/ff100/fv00001.htm), which is both amazing science fiction and incredibly fun, at least in my opinion. Another one is ‘Sluggy’ by Pete Abrams (http://www.sluggy.com/), probably the most linked-to comic after Dilbert. Interestingly, people can pay for Sluggy if they wish. True ‘Sluggites’ can become a ‘Defender of the Nifty’ and support the site with a $30 donation. $25 yearly donations in subsequent years will get ‘Defenders’ ad-free viewing. People can also buy Sluggy books and merchandise. Or, devoted fans can read Sluggy religiously for years, praise the comic to their friends, and discuss it for hours, all without spending a dime. Pete Abrams offers it purely as ‘Pay If You Want’.

Isn’t the Internet, and the generosity of creative people, wonderful?

Blog First for an Internet Presence

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Remember when advertising was limited to expensive ads in print. I came from that field and clients paid thousands of dollars to claim their market share. Printers worked overtime to keep up with impossible deadlines and increasing demand.

A few years ago, I was looking for a service in the Yellow Pages. My son found the service faster than I did, by using the Internet. At the time, I was spending some serious cash on the Yellow Pages for local advertising. I was sold into the idea that “break even” advertising was fine because of repeat business.

Business owners from my generation, and the generations before, had accepted the idea of investing in failure. We even had a formula of “cost per information call,” to justify investing, in advertising, that would not show a profit for months or years.

However, how many ads can you write in print and afford to break even on your expenses? Most “mom an pop” businesses invest their hard earned money and look forward to, a much needed, immediate “return on investment.” Why else would they advertise in the first place? Small businesses are looking for instant results.

My son had enlightened me about the accessibility of Internet advertising, but I was really new to the idea. Shortly afterward, I sought out an Internet advertising guru. By luck and fate, I found Corey Rudl and IMC. Later, I was coached by Corey’s mentoring program.

For the first time ever, you can advertise for, very little or, no money at all. A web site can cost $100 to $200 per year depending upon the host and what kind of package you need to get started.

If you do it all yourself, you won’t spend anything else. You must still work to optimize your site, for the search engines, and if you hire “outside” it won’t be cheap. A “top notch” search engine optimization (SEO) expert won’t come cheap either, and some of the inexpensive (SEO) services will get you “black listed.”

With a website full of unique “keyword content,” it should take you about five months to see big changes in your rankings with the major search engines. This is a conservative estimate, but getting top 10 rankings with Google, Yahoo, MSN, or AOL requires skill, content, and time.

However, Blogs can get you ranked very fast. Due to the constant changes and adding of copy that is keyword rich you can establish an Internet presence in much less time. On top of that, you don’t have to know HTML or be an SEO expert.

Some Blog services like Blogger are free, and since Blogger owned by Google, it is well worth your while to open an account. All you have to do is make entries a few days per week. If you have a lot to say – more keyword content is better.

If you are a small business, refer to your services, products, changes, and your geographic location, in your Blog entries. This will point prospects toward your Blog. When people are searching for your niche market in your area, you will be listed within your niche.

Blogs work in harmony with a web site, so you should still get a web site and have your Blog link to your company website and have your website link back to your Blog. This is a great way to let potential customers see the changes that happen in your business and feel your passion for it. When your new customers meet you, they will be much more informed and comfortable, with you.

A powerful Blog, with unique and keyword rich content, serves as a “magnet,” and may draw more customers than your web site does. The bottom line is, you don’t have to spend a penny on advertising with your Blog.

Blogging: How to Get Started

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

If you wish to start blogging, the process is probably
easier than you might have thought. I have helped a
number of people get started, and often they are very
intimidated and seem to let the slightest obstacle
upset them to the point where they almost give up. But
in reality, you can learn how to be a blogger in a
very short period of time, typically a few hours or
less depending on the level you wish to proceed at.
Your first step is deciding which kind of blog, or web
log, you wish to launch. You will generally want a
business, news or personal blog. If want the latter,
then one of the blog freebies’ services such as
blogger or myspace will be adequate.

In this case you simply sign up for a free account,
choose the name for your blog, choose a template (this
part is self explanatory. Generally you just point and
click your selection among several possible choices)
and perhaps choose a “skin” which is sort of like a
background or wallpaper.

Then you simply start posting. Although this is one of the easiest steps, some people have difficulty here because they cannot find the button. It is different on a lot of different blogs but it often is identified as ‘Creat Post’ or ‘Create Blog’ but it can occasionally be different. You will know you found it when a blank screen with a subject line pops up, much like an email form.

If you are starting a business web log, and you would like to use a free blog, you may want to go with Blogger because they are easily integrated with Google Adwords and you can post your blog entries directly to your website if you choose. They also allow for an unlimited number of posts. If you don’t mind spending a little bit of money for your business blog then I would probably recommend Moveable Type or Type Pad but there are several other good ones depending on your specific business needs. These services generally offer another level of flexibilty and sophistication, elements which are not always needed by the novice blogger.

If you are planning on starting a news blog, there are a number of free services which will probably be adequate for most beginners. http://www.blogeasy.com/ has many of the same flexible features offered by blogger, and I really like http://www.blogsome.com/ as well. Some of these and other free blog services will allow you to have newsfeeds connected to your blog while virtually all of them will allow you to publish your own RSS (Really Simple Syndication) Feed, which is the one essential ingredients for a news sites and for many business blogs as well.
